Registered Nurse

Provides quality cancer care by assessing and monitoring patients, formulating a nursing diagnosis and prioritizing problems.  Engages the patient in mutual goal setting and developing a plan of care in collaboration with the physician and other members of the health care team.

Pharmacist IDS START Midwest

The investigational pharmacist is responsible for all facets of medication order verification, dispensing and documentation process for investigational drugs, conventional chemotherapy and supportive care medications provided by the Investigational Drug Section.

Medical Technologist

The medical technologist performs testing on patient specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes and reports results. The technologist also performs quality control procedures and instrumentation maintenance. The technologist assists the laboratory manager in maintaining an efficient and effective laboratory operation.  The position requires exercise of independent judgment and discretion.

Supervisor Office

Assume day-to-day accountability for the delivery of quality services through consistent application of policies, procedures, protocols and standards. Identify, analyze, and resolve work problems associated with personnel, workflow, technology, or equipment ensuring quality patient care and cost containment. Serves as locations point of contact in the absence of the manager.

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Social Worker

Provides financial screenings for patients and families facing the impact of potential or actual cancer or hematologic disorders. Provides appropriate assistance and resources for needs assessed during initial screenings. Manages the indigent care/patient assistance programs for all patients requiring this service. Uses clinical knowledge to facilitate/coordinate referrals to outside agencies for financial and/or medical needs as directed. Assists with any paperwork/letters required for patients to receive SSD, Medicaid, CSHCS, FMLA, STD, LTD, CLF or LLS assistance, or any other paperwork deemed necessary by supervisor to assist patients. Facilitates advance care planning discussions and assists patients in completing advance directives.

START Infusion/Treatment Nurse

The Treatment Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care to individuals who are participants in research protocols that are conducted at START.

The Treatment Nurse uses appropriate professional judgment and decision-making in planning and providing care. Nursing care is to be delivered in a manner consistent with the Standard Operating Procedures and standards of practice, and professional evidence based standards.

Infusion experience required.
